Breaking Free from the Cocoon: A Traditional Rosh Hashanah Blessing with a Twist

Butterflie and Freedom
Have you noticed the decline in butterfly populations in your area? According to Israeli butterfly researcher Dubi Benyaminy, their absence is a sign of ecological distress. Butterflies, like art, represent freedom, creativity, and hope. They soar through the skies, crossing borders and bringing beauty and color wherever they go.

The Freedom Butterflies Project
The Freedom Butterflies project was born to raise awareness and support for the families of abducted and missing persons. The idea was conceived by Dr. Orit Ziv, and hundreds of women from across Israel joined her in crocheting yellow butterflies. These yellow butterflies, symbols of hope and optimism, are sold with the proceeds going directly to the families of the abducted and missing.
A Symbol of Hope and Solidarity
The yellow butterflies, crocheted by hand by women from across the country, are a symbol of hope, faith, and the ongoing struggle of the families of the abducted and missing. As an illustrator and artist, I believe in the power of art to heal, to connect, and to unite. I see the yellow butterflies not only as a symbol of hope but also as an expression of deep human solidarity.
Role Model Women Supporting the Cause
Role Model Women, a brand I founded and co-created, supports the Freedom Butterflies project by donating 15 shekels from every purchase of a wallet or pencil case directly to the families of the abducted and missing.
Join the Movement
I invite you to join me, purchase a wallet, and help me spread the message of hope and unity. Together, we can build a better future for all.
A Collaboration with Orit Ziv
Orit Ziv was one of the first to join the Anatural project I initiated in 2023. The project focuses on women who walk proudly with white / gray / silver hair without the need to hide the passage of time that inevitably affects us all.
A Shared Message
"The butterflies are a symbol of freedom, the yellow butterflies are a symbol of hope that we will see the abducted and missing return home", Dr. Orit Ziv, founder of the Freedom Butterflies project, tells me. "They remind us that we are not alone, that we are strong together, and that we can make a difference", she continues. For more see the vedio at YouTube.
Join Us in Spreading Hope
We call on everyone, everywhere, to join us and help us turn hope into reality. Let's spread our wings together for a better future!
Upcoming Exhibition
Another collaboration between Orit Ziv and me is taking shape. We are currently working on an art installation related to the abducted women still held by Hamas. Sign up for our newsletter to receive updates on new activities. Follow the Freedom Butterflies project on Instagram and Facebook.
